Statement of Faith
We believe the scriptures themselves are our belief statement and are fully inspired by God (1 Corinthians 3:4, Mark 7:3). Jesus gave us a model for the church recorded by his followers in the four Gospels and the Book of Acts.
- We believe that a person needs to be "born again" to enter the kingdom of heaven which means that in order to be saved to escape the final judgment of all mankind, one needs to give their life to Jesus (Romans 10:4-13).
- After being "born again" one needs to be baptized in water as soon as practical as an act of obedience. No training period is necessary (Matthew 28:19-20).
- Love to God is our response to His love for us. The greatest expression of our love to God is to love human beings the way He loved them.
- The baptism of the Holy Spirit was poured out after believers were born again and it was given for empowerment (Acts 1:4-8, Acts 8:9-19, Acts 10:44- 48, Acts 19:1-7).
- The gospels in the New Testament model and teach us how God wants the Church to operate today. The Book of Acts is our model for all time on how to do it (John 20:21).
- The trinity of God. There is one God with three entities, each being fully God (see Jesus baptism, Matthew 3:16-17). Jesus was fully God. He became a human and lived a sinless life. He paid for the sins of all mankind with his sacrificial death on the cross and three days later He proved his divinity by His resurrection from the dead.
- Jesus is the head of the church. The church is for our fellowship. Involvement by those belonging to the family of God is mandatory (Hebrews 10:25).
- The Bible through a 4000 year history shows us how godly men talked to God, heard God, and obeyed God. May we also leave a God-fearing legacy for the generations who follow us.
- Apostles, prophets, evangelists, pastors, and teachers were given as gifts to equip the believers for works of service -- we believe everyone has a part to play. These ministries listed in Ephesians 4:7-16 are not job titles, but rather job descriptions.
- We believe that the supernatural things that Jesus did in his ministry can be done by Christians today (John 14:12).
- Christians are called to proclaim the good news (witness) to all nations starting in their home (Matthew 28:19).
- The end of the world will come suddenly. Christians are saved from the end time wrath as described in the book of Revelation, but in the meantime we will be persecuted for our faith. For instance, over the past 2000 years, thousands of our brothers and sisters in Christ have been martyred. In recent decades in countries like Uganda, Communist China, and the former USSR Christians are still being tortured and killed for their faith, frequently by those calling themselves by the name of "Christians". (Matthew 24: 4-34, Matthew 5:11, John 15:20, Romans 5:9, 1 Thessalonians 5:9)
