Missions

Outfitters teams bring encouragement, aide, and training when they visit missionaries at work around the world.

Outfitters for Adventure is active in missions in several countries.  Jesus said, “Go into all the world and preach the good news to all creation”  (Mark 16:15-18  NIV). A few examples of places we visit are listed below.

Republic of Ireland

Bethany Eastvold serving in Ireland

Bethany Eastvold is our Outfitters for Adventure missionary in Ireland. Bethany works with women and youth using music, dance, creative writing, and art in her ministry. She pioneered two youth groups in villages in the west of Ireland,  before moving recently to Newbridge near Dublin where she is working in a church and helping in a Teen Challenge Center. Bethany has a heart to see lives changed (especially youth, women in recovery from addictions, and homeless individuals) by the unconditional love and healing power of God. Using music, mentorship, and the arts, she is seeing that happen! If you would like to donate to Bethany's work in Ireland, please contact:

Mexico

David Garcia travels river to visit Indigenous people

About once a year Neil Thielke visits David Garcia who serves with World Indigenous Missions in the state of Chiapas in Mexico.  David has been planting churches, training pastors and lay ministry staff for several years.  Although the churches are self-supporting, David and his family rely on the contributions of friends in the United States for their personal financial support. Some of the newer churches hold open air meetings in rural villages.

Kenya

Information on our Kenya connections can be found in the Outfitters Churches and Reach Out to Kenya tabs.

Japan

In 2008, Neil and Ruth Thielke began visiting Joshua and Akiko Jones in Hamamatsu, Japan. Akiko has lived in Hamamatsu almost all of her life and has been a great help to Joshua with language and customs of Japan. Joshua is coordinator for Globe missionaries in southeast Asia and creator of the Emercy web resource for missionaries. His Emercy web site recently renamed Sogro providing excellent resources to missionaries on either long-term or short-term ventures: www.sogro.org/. The Jones' newsletters including information on how you can donate to their work can be found here: http://www.gme.org/missionaries/view_
missionary.php?mid=127

Joshua found practical market place ventures for sharing his faith in Japan. After owning and operating a coffee shop, Joshua began a language school for businesses whose employees need to learn English. Comfortable in Spanish, Joshua began learning Portuguese before his arrival in Japan, which also allowed him to teach some of the many Brazilians working in Japan. Joshua also found a job in a chapel performing ceremonies for the popular western-sytle weddings. He will be earning his MBA in Spain to further his understanding of the world of business and will strengthen his administrative skills as he grows as a leader in world missions.

Mongolia

Ruslan, pastor, his lovely wife Sveta,
and their growing family

In 2001 while teaching at a school in Asia, Neil kept sensing that he would some day teach in Mongolia.  The next year while again teaching in Asia, we met a missionary to Mongolia who implored us to come to help his church the next year.  In 2003 we made our first visit to his church, bringing along an Outfitters for Adventure ministry team.  We have helped the church with financial needs, and have sent additional ministry teams.  The people of Mongolia show a hunger for the Bible and for salvation in Jesus Christ.
Siberia

Russian friends sing a Russia and America song they wrote for Neil and Ruth to honor the love of Christ in hearts of those who serve him in both nations. Former enemies in the Cold War have become brothers and sisters in Christ.

Neil Thielke helped organize a Nehemiah team school of ministry in the middle of Siberia in 1996. He has brought several Outfitters members along with friends in ministry to Russia since then, offering training for leaders in new churches springing up in central Siberia. The Siberian schools of ministry were the forerunners of Outfitters for Adventure's Summer Institute of Ministry Training (SIMT) at home and several schools of ministry overseas.
