Summer Institute of Ministry Training (SIMT)

The Summer Institute of Ministry Training is an intensive Christian discipleship training program conducted by Outfitters for Adventure.  In 1996, Neil Thielke began teaching Christian foundations overseas with Nehemiah Team from Germany.  While teaching in the Nehemiah Team ministry schools, Neil realized the importance of offering a similar ministry program of courses for believers of all ages to equip the church in America with ministry gifts that will strengthen the church’s effectiveness in reaching the problems that face our communities.  The school also helps build teamwork skills for teams who will work together overseas. Outfitters began offering a Summer Institute of Ministry Training as a 10-week course at Morris Community Church. 

How will our communities benefit?

SIMT equips believers for effective service as ambassadors of Christ in all vocations and situations through Bible-based teaching, discipleship, and practical, hands-on ministry.  SIMT’s instructors are experienced in international ministry, with a passion for Jesus and a desire to see His children flourish.  SIMT gives students the tools they need to hear from and know the Lord in a personal way.  SIMT equips students to discern God’s ways and they gain wisdom through learning from the ministry experiences of the teachers.

What will SIMT students gain?

SIMT is designed for Christians with a “fire in their belly” and a hunger for more of God.  As a student, you will receive excellent Bible-based teaching from experienced instructors with a global perspective.  You will have opportunities to put into practice what you learn through evangelism activities and body ministry.  SIMT also encourages strong interpersonal relationships with fellow believers.  Friendships forged at SIMT are lasting and important parts of everyone’s spiritual growth.  Personal ministry is an essential component in SIMT.  To be truly effective, God heals us and directs us into His unique call for each individual.  Through one-on-one meetings with instructors and ministry from peers, you will see God’s Holy Spirit at work in your life.
